Rotary join forces with Barwon Health’s Volunteer Services Transport Program.

‘Each year, Barwon Health’s Patient Transport Service completes over 15,000 patient trips for community members to get to their important Barwon Health medical appointments including weekly dialysis and chemotherapy appointments. This year we look to far exceed this number.’  says  Lyn Stack of Barwon Health.

‘The Patient Transport Service provides a free service for patients who do not have access to safe or reliable transport. The Service may be the only option for patients with no support system or family to transport them to appointments they need to attend each week.

‘Barwon Health are extremely fortunate to have a fleet of 5 vehicles and a team of 60 dedicated volunteers who donate their time to deliver this essential program. These volunteers are community members themselves who want to make a difference in the lives of others who need help.

‘The Patient Transport Service relies on the generous support of the community to continue this vital program. This year Rotary Clubs from Geelong and District joined forces to support the program that is continually growing in demand, by collectively donating a generous $24,500.

‘We would like to highlight the significant sponsorship received from these Rotary Clubs in our region. Please look out for one of our Volunteer transport cars running around Geelong and surrounding suburbs.

The Rotary Club of Geelong Central is a proud supporter of this vital service.
