Membership and New Club Development Month

August is the Rotary Month for Membership and Club Development Month.

Rotary clubs continue to demonstrate their value by staying connected to members and responding to changing needs in the community. Read about clubs around the world who are finding ways to adapt to new challenges.

Stories
Geelong Food Relief
On Tuesday morning some members gathered early at Geelong Food Relief for our monthly volunteering there. After doing sorting of produce we were given a tour of the operations by Lisa. We really enjoy the mornings spent there at this much needed facility. Afterwards a few of us adjourned to a nearby Cafe for coffee and/or breakfast.
Ian Fulton Award
On May 31, President Don and Rotarian Gary attended the Deakin School of Architecture and Built Environment awards night at the Waurn Ponds Estate.

Don presented the Ian Fulton Memorial Awards to Jack Minter (Pictured with Don) and Adrian Hewson, who is currently overseas.

“It was a good night and a great opportunity to talk to Jack and some of the other award recipients."

The trophy presented was made by Gary, a beautiful and contemporary recognition of this prestigious award.
The Power in You Project

This morning our Rotary club had the privilege of hearing from Olivia Nicholls and Kane Nuttal about the The Power in You Project.

In just 6 years, founder Kane has grown the organisation from just one staff member - himself - and one client battling addiction to over 35 staff across two locations and over 100 clients.

The Power in You Project is an organisation like no other, with a focus on peer support and leaving judgement at the door. The PIYP often deal with the toughest, most complex clients in the system, but believe everyone deserves a second chance. Not only does this lift that person out of their darkest moments, but it also makes the region safer.

Kane and the PIYP team's work has resulted in philanthropic support over the years. However, demand always outweighs the resources PIYP has to offer those who need them.

Olivia is organising an inaugural Charity Gala a fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds going back into providing free group sessions and support for those leaving prison with addiction.
