Monthly Bulletin 2023-24

January

Happy New Year and Happy Vocational Service Month!

Happy New Year to all! Hoping that 2024 brings prosperity and good luck to you all!

Vocational Service is the cornerstone of Rotary and was the key to the beginning of the Rotary ethos of service above self. Rotary's founder Paul Harris recognised that people could use their vocations to help others in the community and thus Rotary was formed and has been serving its local and international community for over 100 years.

The objective of Vocational Service is to:

  • adhere to and promote high ethical standards in all their business dealings,
  • recognise the worthiness of all occupations, and
  • contribute individual professional expertise and skills to addressing societal problems and needs.

Call to Action! RORP Playground Extraction
Calling all Volunteers! Rotary Overseas Relocated Playgrounds will be extracting playgrounds in Ross Vale, Scarsdale & Snake Valley on Saturday the 13th of Jan 2024. Volunteers will be meeting in Geelong and car pooling together, departing at 8am. Separate email to follow.
Kanimbla Reserve Playground
Rotary Overseas Relocated Playgrounds would like to share a update on one of the Playgrounds that has successfully been reinstalled!

The Playground was
  • donated by the City of Greater Geelong,
  • extracted by the Rotary Club of Bellarine North,
  • transported to storage & shipment facilitated by the Rotary Club of Geelong Central, and
  • installed by the Rotary Club of Port Moresby.
It is now located at the Kwikila Family Sexual Violence Unit (FSVU) & Transit Centre (operated by the Royal PNG Constabulary) in Port Moresby. The FSVU is a refuge for mothers & their children to escape domestic violence.

Thank you to the citizens of Geelong from the mothers of children who will use this playground for many years to come, providing them with some enjoyment during the traumatic time that leads them to seeking safety at FSVU.

Over 4,200 clubs participated in World Polio Day!

We also want to recognize and celebrate Districts 4455417047004590, and 4380 for having the highest percentage of clubs register a World Polio Day action. The dedication, passion, and generosity of Rotary members in polio eradication is unparalleled. Thank you for making World Polio Day a success!
